As a mom to an “almost teenager” I’ve really been thinking about the dating scene and how much it has changed since I was young. You have all this new technology as forms of communication and dating apps are all the rage, right? So, how do you instill Biblical values in teenagers when it comes to dating? Will the “old fashioned” way make a comeback among this young generation?
When I first learned that Disney was making a movie about a high school cross country team I was FLOORED. There’s no way a movie about this sport, MY SPORT, is going to be made. I ran XC in high school and let me tell you… it was NOT popular. In fact, a lot of my friends thought I was crazy to even THINK about running for fun.
So, when McFarland USA hit theaters I told my family just how important it was for me to watch it and how much I wanted them to watch it too. The movie isn’t about ME or MY team, but they can learn a lot about how I grew up and how cross country impacted my life growing up.
One of our favorite latinas is hitting the big screen in Dreamworks animated movie ‘Home.’ I’ve always LOVED LOVED Jennifer Lopez. She is just absolutely stunning and I’ve mentioned to my husband, “If anyone ever makes a movie about my life, I want Jennifer Lopez to play me.” Hey. It could happen.
But back to reality, ‘Home’ hits theaters March 27 and my kids are DYING to watch it. They are already in love with Oh. OHHHHHHHHHHHH…. and did I mention I’ve got some fun activity sheets for you to print for the kids and a really cool giveaway?
Our family loves VeggieTales. No really. I don’t have toddlers or preschoolers anymore, but my family loves VeggieTales. In fact, just the other day we watched VeggieTales LIVE while we waited for older brother to get out of Youth Group. I think it’s just very nostalgic for us because we spend so much time watching together when they were younger.
With each new release, we STILL get pretty giddy. So, it’s no surprise we’re anticipating VeggieTales: Noah’s Ark to debut on DVD March 3.
Recently, I’ve found myself as a stay-at-home-mom again. For the last 3 years I tackled the world of news as a social media producer here in Houston. Now that I have more time with my family, we are looking for fun ways to spend time together. In comes family movie night! Nothing beats curling up on the couch with my kids and big bowl of popcorn.
This month a movie we have LONG anticipated watching is hitting store shelves… The Boxtrolls! Oh, and did we mention it’s been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature?
I might be the only woman who hasn’t read “Fifty Shades of Grey.” OH, don’t get me wrong… I’ve had countless friends tell me how much I NEED to read this book, how much it will change my “personal” life. Yet, here I couldn’t open the pages of the book.
All the things I’ve heard really make me a bit uncomfortable. I don’t feel it’s healthy to put my mind or my heart in that place. ‘Fifty Shades of Grey” debuts on Valentine’s Day and I bet there will be tons of ‘Girl’s Night Out” evenings planned to see it and that’s ok, but how about a different kind of a movie? How about a movie about healing and chivalry? ‘Old Fashioned‘ debuts on Valentine’s Day too. As I researched more about this movie one particular line stood out to me, “When did treating women with respect become the joke?”
As a little girl, I used to play the The Little Mermaid VHS tape over and over again. Heck, even as I grew older, I told people this was my absolute favorite Disney movie EVER with Beauty and the Beast coming in second.
Now, you can join Ariel in two underwater adventures in The Little Mermaid II and Ariel’s Beginning 2-Movie Collection (Blu-ray + 2-Disc DVD) for the first time on Disney Blu-ray™ Combo Pack November 19th!
Summer is almost here.. wait. Who am I kidding? Summer starts in January here in Houston. What I MEANT to say is Summer VACATION time is almost here. Families everywhere will be gearing up for fun in the sun. Road trips will be planned. Hotels will be booked and we’re left with the every looming cries of the kids in the backseat yelling, “Are we there yet?!”

Today, my 5-yr-old wakes up and the first thing on his mind? Super Heroes. His excitement has gotten the best of him, because he knows that Marvel’s The Avengers debuts in theaters today. He also knows that his 9-yr-old brother has already watched the movie with me at press screening, so he’s anxious to see why we can’t stop talking about this movie.
Oh, in case you’ve been living under a rock, The Avengers debuts TODAY, May 4th! Do we have any Marvel fans out there? Coming together on one screen, to save the earth from evil villan Loki, are Black Widow, Ash, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, and Nick Fury. I’ve never been a fan of comic books or Marvel characters, until I saw this movie. As of Today? We’ve caught up on every Marvel movie made and I’m DYING to see The Avengers again! I do, however, know you guys want to know if it’s family friendly and whether or not YOU should take your kids. Well, we’ve got your scoop right here.
This weekend we’re having a Super Hero Movie Marathon! I know. I know. It’s usually not “my style” to sit in front of the tv watching movies about comic book heroes, but I’m totally addicted to all that is Marvel right now. On Wednesday, my 9-yr-old son and I screened Marvel’s The Avengers and now? Now I’m a complete convert. I want to know all there is to know about Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Captain America, and S.H.I.E.L.D.
I can’t wait to share my Avengers Movie Review with you guys on May 4th, but I couldn’t resist sharing my excitement over the movie. I had such a blast watching it with my son. So much so, that I’d like to give YOU guys the chance to get excited too with a cool Avengers giveaway. This will, seriously, give you brownie points with the neighborhood kids.
