It’s one of my favorite days of the week. No. Not ‘Hump Day’ or Friday. It’s Music Monday! Every Monday I try to give you the scoop on the latest in Christian music. Okay, well not the latest, but the latest music my family is listening to.
I have so many great songs I want to share with you, but today it’s all about Christy Nockels and her beautiful sound of worship with her latest album ‘Let It Be Jesus.’ It officially debuts April 28, but we got a sneak peek at the tracks last week and we’re giving YOU guys the chance to win the album.
When I first downloaded ‘Let It Be Jesus,’ one thing really stood out to me. Did you guys see that album cover? Often, we worship God with our arms lifted high, but some of the most precious worship I experience is when I’m on my knees in wonder of His grace. I feel His presence in such a beautiful and majestic way during those times. Just seeing Christy on her knees on that cover really just showed me a glimpse of the passionate worship she experiences when she sings.
I fell in love with Christy Nockels the first time I heard ‘Everlifting‘ from her ‘Into the Glorious’ album. In fact, I wrote about how it touched me on a day that seemed to be unraveling as I sat in traffic on the way to a job interview. THAT song got me through it. It was then, I felt God speak to me through Christy. You can read about it here (Oh, I did get the job, but have since felt God’s direction change).
All this to say, Christy has used her spiritual talents to really bless me personally and I am SO excited she is debuting a new album. My hope is that it is a blessing to you.

As a worship leader for many years, she has been an integral part of Passion Conferences from its inception in 1997. She’s seen first hand music sweep people into the presence of God in a powerful way. A pastor’s kid, who was born in Fort Worth and raised in Oklahoma, she grew up singing in church. She met her husband, Nathan, in 1993 at the Christian Artists Seminar in Estes Park, Co. They recorded an independent record with fellow worship leader Charlie Hall under the name Sons & Daughters that led to an invitation from Louie Giglio to participate in the first Passion conference in Austin. Christy’s voice gained a national platform when she and Nathan formed the duo Watermark, recording four acclaimed albums before that musical season ended, paving the way for Christy’s solo career. In 2008, the couple moved to Atlanta to become part of Passion City Church where she serves on the worship team with sixstepsrecords labelmates Chris Tomlin and Kristian Stanfill. The following year, Nockels released her acclaimed solo debut, Life Light Up and spent much of the next two years touring with Tomlin and Passion.
