It is confirmed. Mosquitoes, in Harris County, have tested positive for the West Nile Virus. I shouldn’t be as shocked as I am. I mean, we live on the Gulf Coast of Texas in the Houston area. We’ve ALWAYS fought mosquitoes since I was a child, but why does the problem seem to be worsening? Better yet. How can I protect my family?
Well, thanks to Cutter, we put a plan in place last week, before the news of West Nile hit our area. My husband and I worked through out yard making sure there were no standing water. Then, we sprayed the front and back yard with a mosquito yard treatment. What are you guys doing to fight the mosquitoes?
We all know that mosquitoes are a problem in our area. In fact, most of the families I know usually carry mosquito repellent in their vehicle, but what do you do when you can’t even stand in your garage for an extended amount of time without getting eaten alive? What do you do when swarms of them follow you into your home?
The problem in our area is insane.
A lot of people rely on the mosquito spraying trucks that the city sends out into the neighborhood. After watching Houston Newsmakers this last Sunday, I learned the mosquito trucks are NOT sent out unless there is a case of West Nile Virus in your area.
So, we decided to spray our own yard to protect our children. We started with the Cutter Backyard Bug Control Spray. This simply attaches to the end of your hose and kills grubs, ants, fleas, chinch bugs, and mosquitoes. Think about any bug that annoys the crap out of you and that’s what it’ll kill.
After you attach to the hose, you can then turn on the water slowly. One bottle sprayed our front AND backyard. It’s great for, not only lawns, but landscapes and outdoor surfaces. The Cutter Backyard Bug Control Treatment covers up to 5,000 square ft. Add the Cutter fogger for perfect for those hard to reach places such as, crevices, cracks, and spots. It worked great around our garden. It is SUCH a pain to pick veggies from the garden only to get eaten by mosquitoes. These veggies aren’t going to get picked with pesky mosquitoes buzzing around me ears, are they?
After tonight’s confirmation that the West Nile Virus IS confirmed in my county, I’m pretty happy that we took precautionary measures ahead of time to protect our family. So, what did we do to celebrate? Well, we had a snow cone party of course! Stay tuned for all our mosquito-free fun tomorrow!
Are mosquitoes bad in YOUR area? Let me know where you live and how you’re battling those pesky things.
