Just last week, I was in Sunny Santa Monica to attend a press event for the new movie Mirror Mirror with Lily Collins and Julia Roberts as the evil queen. I don’t know about you, but for me, it was really difficult to see Julia take on an “evil” role on the big screen. After screening the movie the first night there and interviewing, Lily Collins (Snow White) the 2nd day, I realized this movie intertwines all the feelings we, as women, go through.
In the coming weeks, I’ll bring you an eye-opening interview with Lily Collins and what she taught me about inner beauty, along with behind the scene peek we traveled as she discussed what it was like taking on such an iconic role in this classic tale of Snow White. Today, however, it’s the fun stuff. We got to have a day of beauty fit for a princess.
One of the most beloved stories of all time is coming to life in the motion picture event, Mirror Mirror. A fresh and funny retelling of the Snow White legend, Mirror Mirror features breakout star Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as Snow White, a princess in exile, and Oscar®-winner Julia Roberts as the evil Queen who ruthlessly rules her captured kingdom. Seven courageous rebel dwarfs join forces with Snow White as she fights to reclaim her birthright and win her Prince in this magical adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences the world over. The film also stars Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as the Prince, and Nathan Lane (The Birdcage) as the hapless and bungling servant to the Queen.
I was a little nervous to let someone do my hair, only because it’s SO long and SO curly and well, it usually takes any stylist about over an hour just to blow dry, much less flat iron it, but she did awesome! I was overly impressed that the make-up artist, Susie Moldavon, was able to curl my eyelashes! I mean, they ACTUALLY curled. I know you guys have heard me say how my lashes are long and straight.
Wanna know how she did it?
If she told me she was using this tool BEFORE she did it, I would have said HECK NO, but she used it, THEN told me that she was using a dull pocket knife. My lashes looked like they were fake. She curled those suckers so well that they didn’t go back to normal for at least 2 days.
More than that, however, the Mirror Mirror experience led me to feel connected to what it means to be beautiful. To see all the bloggers being transformed and the excitement that resulted from that transformation was incredible. We all felt like the stylists really helped us feel confident in the beauty we’ve been blessed with no matter what size or color we are. Having encouragement from other women created a bond between us that will last for, I hope, a lifetime.
I’m really excited to bring you guys more about what I learned from Lily Collins about inner beauty, along with more fun activities I got to experience while in Santa Monica. I, definitely, had the chance to reflect on where this year is taking Momma Findings.
