How many of you are a “tightwad” when it comes to downloading apps? I’ll admit it, I’m a bit of a nazi when my preschooler asks to download a new iPad app. He’s already gotten so used to me saying no that he ONLY approaches me when he doesn’t see a price next to the apps he wants. Then, he slowly walks towards me with a gentle voice, “Mom, can I download this app? There’s no numbers next to it. It’s totally free.”
Well, the last few days, I’ve given in to his charm and found some REALLY cool iPad apps for kids. My two youngest children totally loved the Beauty and the Beast app that I couldn’t help myself. I just HAD to download another Disney Storybook App with our favorite characters Buzz, Woody, and Jessie! Oh and the cool part? I’m gifting this app to three lucky winners. Totally worth it at the pediatrician’s by the way.
About Toy Story Showtime!
“Toy Story Showtime!” is a Disney Learning interactive storybook designed to help children explore essential early reading concepts. Kids are invited to join Buzz Lightyear as he sets out to impress Jessie the Cowgirl in the talent show. As Buzz tries his luck at everything from comedy to juggling, emerging readers discover new vocabulary words in the context of a rich, interactive storytelling experience. Bonus activities encourage children to use the vocabulary in both guided and exploratory play.
So, we download the Toy Story Showtime! app for the iPad, (it’s available for iPhone and iPod Touch also in case you were wondering) and immediately my 4-yr-old starts flipping through it like a pro. Yeah, he didn’t even bother to go to the menu and see what kind of activities there were to play.
He thinks it’s SO cool that Disney Storytime apps are narrated word-by-word and highlighted for a more extensive read-along experience. I caught him following the words with his finger, which shows me he’s really coming along with his site words for Kindergarten next year. Another feature that helps him, is the ability to tap vocabulary words and receiving an age-appropriate definition. There are also activities to help little ones spell.
To add to the experience, there are special feature taps that engage and surprise young readers. Find and tap the pea; tilt, trace, and shake to trigger Buzz’s moves; shake to toss roses on the stage, and much more! This was so fun to watch with my guy because he sticks his tongue out when he plays.
Now. This isn’t much of an improvement as much as it is stating the fact that…. if you’ve downloaded the Storybook Deluxe Beauty and the Beast, you might be a little disappointed that Toy Story Showtime! is not as animated. My guy mentioned he was disappointed that there weren’t music videos and sing-alongs. I guess he kind of expected that.
Toy Story Showtime! app is recommended for children ages 4-6 and can be downloaded on iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch for $4.99.
I don’t usually run giveaways for items less than $5.00. I mean, I know you guys like to win big, right? This instance is just a little different because we’re totally in love with these kids friendly apps and I just KNOW once you guys give ’em a try, you will too. So, I’ve got Toy Story Showtime! app codes for THREE lucky Momma Findings readers. You must have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch in order to download. I know that’s kind of obvious, but I had to mention.
