As I mentioned earlier, in the Mars Needs Moms Giveaway, we have been spending LOTS of family time together. From movies, to outings, and back home to play boardgames, we’re trying to enjoy every last bit of Summer. I mean, if stores are going to start unrolling school supplies in July, we’ve got to do SOMETHING to end the Summer with a bang, right?
One of our favorite things to do, as a family, is play boardgames. I’m SOOO happy we’re out of the Chutes and Ladders stage. I’m not sure I could take another disgruntled 4yrold every time he had to slide down a chute. Insanity I tell you. We’ve discovered a new game that’s we love to play, Rollick! It’s a hysterical game of clues and collaboration.
With ROLLICK!, the entire team works together to act out clues for one person to guess. It’s an hysterical, fun, fast-paced, team competition game that’s an absolute riot at parties, family gatherings, work events, holiday celebrations, with friends, and even teenagers! With over 750 clues, no game is ever the same. Invite your friends and family over for hours of hilarious fun with ROLLICK!
I don’t know about you, but for me? I like to know what I’m getting inside the box before I buy. We have so many games with pieces missing, so I try to stay away from games with LOTS of teeny tiny game pieces I’ll end up stepping on in the middle of the night. SO, you decide Rollick! is the game for you, what should you expect?
This is my kinda game! Rollick is comprised of:
- 378 ROLLICK! Cards (756 clues)
- Score Pad
- 1-Minute Timer
- Quick Play Rules
Oh and I have to mention that all the pieces fit quite nicely in the box when it’s time to put the game away. I hate when games come with a teeny box and you can’t fit everything back in to close the box. Rollick is SOOOO not like that.
We were a little confused when the game, first arrived, thinking, how in the world are we going to play as a family of five when it states that it’s a game for 6 players and up? Well, any number of players can play and there are so many different variations of the game to keep in mind.
Large Groups (16+): Rollick! is a fantastic game to play with large groups. Break into teams of 8-10 people. The only thing that changes with large groups is the number of guessers each team will have. Determine the number of actors and guesser and play as normal.
Less than 6 players: This came in handy since we have three children. It can still be played with less than 6 players. Each player will be on his or her own team. One player will hold the clues and the remaining players will act for the guesser. The guesser scores 1 point for each word guessed correctly.
No Pass Rule: This works great because my 9-yr-old is quick to pass his clue WAY to often. Some clues require more collaboration than others. Try implementing a “no pass” rule requiring teams to creatively work together without the ability to pass to another clue. You can also allow teams a set amount of passes the entire game to prevent players, like my son, who are too quick to pass when it gets hard.
Speed Round ROLLICK! Head to Head: Each team will select who will be the guesser for their opponents. Use the same number of guessers you’ve used all game. Each team randomly selects 5 cards from Rollick! deck. Teams will compete head to head until their 5 words are guessed. No passing is allowed in Speed Round ROLLICK!
Playing with Younger Children: This is us… ALL DAY. Rollick comes with blue sided cards and red sided cards. Use the blue cards. It might be necessary for an adult to pre-select words that are easier for children to act out. You can even take the time to explain each word so they can better act it out.
All in all, we had SUCH a great time playing Rollick! as a family. It really IS hilarious and so simple to play. The best way to describe Rollick! is a game of charades for today’s youth. With it’s variations and simpleness, it gets everyone involved. Most of all? It brings us together as a family, forcing us to “collaborate” and work as a team. It’s also very quick to learn and that’s a plus being I have young children. I absolutely LOVE the game, but I just realized there is ALSO a Rollick! Jr. coming really soon, so I’m anxious to see how much easier they make it for young ones.
You can find Rollick! on Amazon.com for the suggested retail price of $24.95. DEAL ALERT: Rollick! is now $23.93 on Amazon. For more information about Rollick! visit www.thegamechef.com. There you’ll discover more games in the making, perfect for your family!
