Happy Fourth of July friends! What an amazing day to celebrate the freedom we have here in America. What an amazing day to celebrate the freedom we have in Christ. What an amazing day to climb the highest mountain we face today and shout from the roof tops, “I’m free to be me!”
Welcome to another Music Monday and, while I’m not highlighting a new song, I am highlighting a song I’m listening to this very morning as I reflect on all the freedoms we have in this life. Today, I’m listening to Francesca Battistelli.
It’s Independence Day and, like most people, I’ll probably be doing a little eating, a little relaxing, and a little fireworks watching. This is one of my favorite Holidays of the year and it may or may not have to do with a little thing I like to call a funnel cake.
No, all kidding aside, it’s a day to reflect on all the sacrifices this country has had to make for our freedom through our military, but it’s also a day to reflect on what freedom really means to you. See, Christ already won the battle for our freedom. He already made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free of sin.
Yesterday, as I was getting ready for Church, I grew frustrated, not able to find something to wear. So, instead I donned my favorite jeans and cute top. My favorite jeans just happen to have a very large hole in the knee, but the more and more I thought about it, the more and more I didn’t care.
I’m pretty cool.
I’m pretty relaxed.
I’m pretty darn happy to worship on a Sunday Morning.
I’m free to be me through Christ.
This Music Monday I’m listening to Free To Be Me by Francesca Battistelli. It’s a fun song that reminds us that, through our imperfections, Christ sees our real heart.
I’m His girl.
And He makes me believe it even through my ripped torn jeans.
Album: My Paper Heart
I’m still looking for a dream
A war is already waged for my destiny
But You’ve already won the battle
And You’ve got great plans for me
Though I can’t always see
I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to put the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I’m so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I’m free to be me
When I was just a girl
I thought I had it figured out
See my life will turn out right
And I’ll make it here somehow
But things don’t always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt, ’cause…
And you’re free to be you
Sometimes I believe
That I can do anything
Yet other times I think
I’ve got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and tell me
That I’ve got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe, even though…
And you’re free to be you
I want to say a really quick Thank You to the United States Military for serving our country so greatly. We are free. We are blessed. Your service is appreciated more than you can imagine.
