I’ve been talking about skincare all Summer long. I find that the Texas heat shows no mercy on me no matter what precautions I take. Whether is sunburn, dry skin, or oily facial issue, I feel like I’m definitely prepared for any skin condition we incur here at my house. Seriously. You should see my beauty cabinet. Maybe one day I’ll take a picture for Wordless Wednesday and show you guys.
With that said, one of my beauty finds this month comes in the form of a bar, but I’m not talking soap. I’m talking lotion. Have you ever heard a thing? Beeswax Hard Lotion is the name and I’ve got to say… I’m pretty hooked.
Beesilk Hard Lotion Bars are lotion in a unique form – a “bar”, like a bar of soap. The lotion is loaded with beeswax, the necessary ingredient that makes applying lotion a less-frequent activity. The beeswax seals in the other two emollient ingredients (coconut oil and shea butter) for long-lasting relief of dry skin.
How does it work?
It takes your body’s normal temperature to soften the bar as you rub it on your skin. Within seconds, the ingredients absorb into your skin, relieving the harshest of dry skin. The bar is ideal on skin that has been cut, cracked or split due to frequent hand-washing or other daily activity. The Beesilk hard lotion bar is safe for children and effective enough for the plumber, electrician or nurse. The ingredients are even edible.
Hard Lotion was kind enough to send me an array of Beeswilk products including the Hard Lotion Bar in two sizes and a lip balm that has come in handy countless times when out in the sun.
Okay, so Renee, Founder and Owner of Hard Lotion, is a genius. Who would have thought to make lotion into a bar? I mean, it eliminates the messiness of regular lotions AND there’s no waste. Come on. How many times have you ever looked at your tube or bottle of lotion and thought… There’s GOT to be more in there!
I don’t suffer from extreme dry skin, however, my daughter has eczema and my husband has psoriasis. Plus, his heels are so dry and hard. I gave him the big bar of Hard Lotion, while I kept the smaller bar.
Using a “bar of lotion” instead of traditional lotion is a bit foreign at first, but it’s REALLY cool. Simply use the bar of lotion and rub it on your skin. The heat from your body activates or softens the bar and it glides right on.
What fascinates me about these bars is how natural they are. My daughter has eczema, as I mentioned above, so we have to very careful what we use on both her skin and my husband’s. There are three essential ingredients in the bar:
- Coconut Oil
- Shea Butter
That’s it! With Hard Lotion, you know you’re getting an all natural product, but did you know? You ALSO get a hand written notice of WHEN the product was made. The products I received were made in May 2011. It’s a nice touch, don’t you think?
With most all natural beauty products, you’ve got to sacrifice something for the better of your skin. With Beesilk Hard Lotion, there is a lack of scent. Just an FYI, for all of you who HAVE to have their good smellin’ lotion. I will say, however, that you’re receiving a superior product in the end. So, there’s no scent. No biggie.
At the end of day, I’ve found that Beesilk Hard Lotion bars delivers smooth application and helps ward off dry skin in prone areas such as heels, elbows, and knees. It’s also been a favorite of my daughter, who suffers from eczema and it’s so easy to travel with, especially in airports where only small tubes/bottles of liquid are allowed through security.
Buy it online at www.hardlotion.com for the suggested retail price of $17.75 for the above set that includes 1 Family-size lotion bar, 1 Pocket-size lotion bar, and 1 lip balm.
Have you tried a lotion bar before? If yes, how did you like it? If not, do you think you could make the switch from traditional lotion to give Hard Lotion a try?
