What does happiness mean to you? Is it a feeling you get when your with your loved ones? Is it being at your favorite place at the park? Big Idea Inc. has set out on a quest to find what true happiness is all about with their latest DVD launch Happy Together. It’s a compilation of a few of our favorites episodes that tell the story of forgiveness, courage, and friendship.
With young children, happiness can be very simple, yet complex all at the same time. When I asked my 3-yr-old what makes him happy he said, “I’m happy when Zach plays the Wii with me or when Abby lets asks me to play with her on the computer.” Obviously, this is a digital child. Electronics and video games make him happy, but underneath it all, he’s really Happy Together with his siblings with or without the Wii. Veggietales helped me open the door to have this conversation with him as we approach one of the most loving days of the year… Valentine’s Day.
Join Bob, Larry and all your VeggieTales pals for “Happy Together!” Featuring three classic stories about friendship, faith, and family. Plus…funny and touching thoughts from the “Veggie Kids” (as voiced by real children) sharing their perspective on true happiness as only kids can! Also included are 3 “Happy Songs” from the popular Silly Song series – Pants, Dance of the Cucumber, and Larry Sings the Blues –adding even more happy moments to this fun-filled DVD!
Thanks to Big Idea, I was fortunate to check out the new DVD and was pleasantly surprised to see the story of Esther. This is one of my favorite stories in the Bible, showing my children faith can give you the courage and strength to made hard choices, especially those you love the most.
Then there’s The Grapes of Wrath. I can’t say how prudent this is to us right now, as we’ve dealt with others “making fun” of one of our children. We’ve had discussions of what it means to forgive, heal, and be happier because of it. This is a great episode that demonstrates that.
I love that there is a new Veggietales DVD on shelves. I feel like Big Idea needs to stay “fresh” and “up to date” on new episodes for children, however, I felt like this new DVD wasn’t new at all. It’s older episodes we own already, just compiled differently on disc. I do, however, love they added the extra Veggie Kids sharing their take on what happiness really mean.
I will always credit Big Idea’s Veggietales for giving my young children the tools to learning and discovering their Faith. Always. Although, we’ve seen and own the episodes on this disc, I think it would be a great Valentine’s gift for families who have, yet to discover Veggietales or maybe even perfect for Valentine’s themed playdates.
