A few nights ago, we had a friend over for dinner. Actually, a friend of my husband’s. A guy. The topic of conversation turned to movies in which he stated, “I can get into “Rated C” movies.” Being the slow-to-get-the-joke-type, I asked, “Rated C?” He confidently replies, “Yeah, Chick Flicks.”
As I pondered the words coming out of his mouth, him confidently stating he loves to watch romantic movies, I thought, He’d be perfect to invite to my screening party for Marry Me. Lifetime Television is premiering the ultimate romantic movie in a two part mini series, this Sunday December 12th through Monday the 13th. Marry Me stars, everyone’s favorite Angel, Lucy Liu as she struggles to choose between THREE guys who want to marry her. THREE! Did it just get hot in here?
Lucy Liu stars as Rae Ann Carter, a single aspiring-artist-turned-social-worker who always wanted a fairy-tale romance — to fall madly in love and live happily ever after. But when her two-year relationship falls apart, Rae unexpectedly falls for a new man, Luke (Steven Pasquale), who asks her to marry him after a few short dates. Just as everything seems to fall into place for Rae, her ex-boyfriend Adam (Bobby Cannavale) suddenly re-emerges into her life with a proposal of his own. Things get even further complicated when a third man (Enrique Murciano), smitten by Rae, enters the picture and asks for her hand in marriage, as well. With three men after her heart, who will be Rae’s Prince Charming?
As a Lifetime Mom Affiliate, I, often times, receive exclusive opportunities to screen new movies for Lifetime and A&E. So, a few weeks ago, I was asked if I wanted to throw a Screening Party for Marry Me. After looking at the movie information and watching the preview, I thought, Why Not? It sounds like an awesome movie and it gives me an excuse to sit in front of the TV with my friends.
So, that I did. Check it out:

All in all, we had a few great laughs, got to watch an awesome Lifetime movie, yet to air on TV, and my guests walked away with their very own wedding veil, that I’m SURE they can make use of at home. Hey. I don’t judge. They also got a little keychain bling and one walked away with a Macy’s gift card as a door prize…. ALL thanks to Lifetime.
Marry Me, although predictable, was still one of those “Feel Good” movies. I’m a sucker for a romantic flick, especially when it takes me back to the point where my husband asked me to marry him. In fact, I can totally relate to Rae, played by Lucy Liu, because I, too, was in a situation where someone else asked me to marry him, right before I was to be married to my, sweet, loving, awesome husband.
Okay. Brutal honesty? It was the night before our wedding and I had a choice to make, much like Rae. I was feeling all kinds of emotions and fear, much like Rae.
In the end. I found my Prince Charming and we’ve been married 10 years in March. Will Rae find hers? ……. I CAN’T TELL! Ah, you’ll have to watch on Sunday. So exciting!
Marry Me, starring Lucy Liu, premieres on Lifetime in a two part series. Part 1 airs Sunday, December 12th and Part 2 continues on Monday, December 13 both at 9 pm et/pt.
