What would you do if you met a real LIVE fairy? I’d totally ask her to make me fly. Totally. Then we’d talk Pixie Dust and fashion. In MY opinion, those Fairies are fashionistas in the making. Then we’d have a tea party and become ultimate BFFs.
Before Wendy and the Lost Boys, humans had never actually seen a fairy, until the day Tinker Bell met Lizzy. Disney’s newest movie Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue hit stores today, September 21st! We were invited to an exclusive advance screening of the movie last month and my children can’t get enough of Tinker Bell and her new best friend. I’ve been going on and on about how awesome the movie is and now I get to share it with you guys. So, what did we think? Is it worth the buy?
Witness the historic moment when Tinker Bell first meets a human being, and it’s not who you think. Years before meeting Wendy and the Lost Boys, Tinker Bell met Lizzy, a little girl with a steadfast belief in the power of pixie dust and the magic land of fairies. During the fairies’ summer visit to the flowering meadows of England, two very different worlds unite for the first time and Tink develops a special bond with a curious child in need of a friend. As her fellow fairies launch a daring rescue, Tinker Bell takes a huge risk, putting her own safety and the future of all fairykind in jeopardy.Experience Disney’s astonishing all-new movie about the true power of faith and friendship.
The morning of the advanced screening, my daughter seemed to be hyped on some kind of ultimate caffeine that morphed into her body while she was sleeping. I mean, I hadn’t seen this child THAT excited since she met the dolphins at Sea World. Seriously.
As I mentioned, we had the ultimate sneak peek at an Advanced Screening of the movie. My daughter packed HER new American Girl BFF, Zelda and woke me up at the crack of dawn. I’ll give her some credit here because we DID have to drive on the other side of Houston to make it to the theater on time.
So, what did we think? Well, I need to throw in the fact that my husband and 3-yr-old son were with us as well and after the movie everyone applauded. There was nothing but smiles on everyone’s faces, even my guys.
Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue is, in my opinion, THE feel-good animated film of the year for families. We’ve had some issues with movie watching this Summer, like the controversy of Despicable Me and nightmares we had with Toy Story 3, but this movie was different. There were no evil villains out to end the world or destroy your toys, but instead an adventure of magic and friendship. Yes, the fairies DID find them in a pickle after Tinker Bell “becomes captured” but they relied on their Faith and Pixie Dust to get through it.
My husband was, especially, touched at the relationship between Lizzy and her father. Every hard working husband and father goes through struggles of balancing work and family. This really touched him being that he, only recently, quit a job he felt was taking too much time away from me and the kids.
Exclusive Interview With My Daughter:
Our movie experience at the theater is one of favorite family outings of the Summer. We had breakfast together, discovered an awesome family friendly movie worth sharing, and I can’t thank Disney enough. The movie is perfect for both boys AND girls, by the way. My 3-yr-old son loved all the magic of pixie dust, but he especially liked the silly boy fairies. My 8-yr-old son had a chance to watch it, when we received the DVD, and when I asked him what he thought he said, “It was pretty cool. Lots of flying.”
