I’ll admit it. I have NEVER and I repeat NEVER solved the Rubik’s Cube. In fact, it gives me such a headache, I usually just give up after 15 minutes of trying. My husband, on the other hand, can solve it within minutes and LOVES it. I think he secretly gets a kick at making me feel inadequate. He has a Math and Science kinda mind. I, on the other hand, have an artsy, creative, writer kinda brain. It makes for a very interesting marriage, let me tell you.
My hope is that our children get a good mixture of both my husband and I. You know, belt out an essay that puts my English Lit Professor to shame AND work at NASA as a hobby. All kidding aside, I’ve been giving the secret to solving the, ever popular, Rubik’s Cube, thanks to You Can Do the Rubik’s Cube and, my children and I want to share it with, not only their classroom, but all of you.
Rubik’s Cube has launched a new campaign in the USA with the goal of teaching 8-18 year-olds how to solve the Rubik’s Cube and experience the many benefits of this accomplishment! Math lessons have also been designed to use the Rubik’s Cube to help teachers engage students with an interactive and tangible way to learn the many math disciplines. The Secret to Solving the Cube:
You can find all kinds of fun stuff on the You Can Do the Cube website, but most of all the secret is revealed in 6 easy stages. Don’t believe me? I solved it by following the steps revealed on the website (and in the kit they sent me). Yes, me, the one who barely passed Algebra in High School.
Momma Findings Family Thoughts:
Rubik’s Cube asked me to go on a Test Drive by accepting a challenge of sorts. They would send me cubes for all 3 of my kids, solution guides, fun activities, and fixings for a Rubik’s b-day cake, party favors, and themed clothing ideas. I, in turn, would challenge both myself and my children to “Solve the Cube”.
Obviously, I pulled a fast one on the Cube and ended my challenge in victory, which only leads me to believe I’m smarter than I think I am. Well, if that’s the case, my kids are smart too because both my 6 and 8-yr-old’s solved their cubes by working together and using the solution guide as their map.
Rubik’s Cube in the Classroom:
You Can Do the Cube gave my family a fun learning experience that I’ll chalk up to a great success, but they took it one step further and will be sending a Teacher Kit to my son’s 3rd grade teacher complete with the following: 12 Rubik’s Cubes, 12 solution guides, an instructional DVD with math lessons, cube sign-out sheets, posters, stickers, and award certificates. I’m excited to see them receive the cubes and have my son share how he solved it.
Download and Buy It:
You can shop and download solution guides, activities, and themed merchandise at www.youcandothecube.com.
So, I’m DYING to know. How many of you can ACTUALLY solve the cube without looking at the guide?
