I still remember it like it was yesterday. My Father asked me to get his cigarettes off his dresser for him. I had a decision to make. Should I bring them to him or chunk ’em in the trash? I remember my Dad getting a little angry with me. I often wondered, Why can’t he just quit?
Years later, I fall in love and marry a man who, you guessed it, smokes. Granted, he keeps his smoking outside the home, I still worry about his health, along with the health of my Dad. My husband tried to explain to me how hard it is to quit smoking and how I couldn’t possibly understand.
Is it really that hard? Or can an online community dedicated to smokers help you become an EX?
Seventy percent of smokers in America want to quit, but only about five percent of smokers are successful in quitting long-term. Most people just don’t know how to quit.
That’s where EX comes in. The free EX Plan, available at BecomeAnEX.org, teaches smokers how to “re-learn” life without cigarettes. Developed in partnership with Mayo Clinic, as well as input from ex-smokers, EX is a new way to think about quitting that can help smokers become an EX for good.
How the EX plan works:
• Learn the truth vs. myths about nicotine, smoking and addiction
• Identify personal “smoking triggers”- habits that make you want to smoke.
• EX helps smokers “practice” and deal with their ‘smoking triggers” without reaching for a light.
Most importantly, EX wants you to know that you are not alone. EX offers online support groups and various communities that will serve as your own personal therapist, your quit buddy, and your friend.
What Triggers You To Smoke?
Momma Findings Family Thoughts:
This one of those blog posts where I don’t have any insights on the website, plan, or product, but there is one thing for sure…. I’m passionate about finding ways to help my loved ones quite smoking for good.
To put myself in their shoes, I’m dedicating today Trigger Tuesday. I’m going to “confess” one bad habit I would like to quit, in hopes that you’ll open up and share yours with me. If your habit happens to be smoking, that’s okay. You’ll be entered to win a “Quit Prize Pack” to help you on your journey to quitting smoking for good.
My Trigger and Bad Habit:
One Word. Soda.
Yes, I have soda every day. In fact, if I don’t have at least one drink of Diet Coke or Dr. Pepper I get the WORST headache. I become irritable. I over eat. My hands shake a little.
My husband tells me that’s how he feels when he doesn’t have a cigarette. Hmmm… Maybe I DO know how he feels.
Your Chance to Quit and Win:
Two winners will receive the EX – ‘Quit Pack’ complete with a ex-backpack, air freshener, trigger cards and stickers, cup holder, re-learn booklet and EX instructions.
Share with me, in the comment section, one bad habit you’d like to quit.
This contest is different than the others. I just want to help you quite smoking or possibly help your loved one become an EX. Because of that, I’m offering unlimited amount of entries throughout the contest (3 per day), if you tweet this simple tweet:
