My family is not what you would consider a “Pet Family” in any way, shape, or form. We don’t own dogs, cats, fish, or anything that might need extra loving care. Why? Well, one reason is that my oldest son has always been scared of dogs, but another reason is the fact that we just don’t have the energy for another living being who eats and poops. A family of five is hard enough.
So, what does a young family do when the children are begging for a pet? Are there hassle free options for a family like mine? Well, thanks to Wild Creations I’ve discovered we can enjoy African Dwarf Frogs and their easy Eco Aquarium.
Wild Creations, best known for its award-winning EcoAquarium™, is eager to expand young minds with smart ways to play! The Myrtle Beach-based company is grounded in an understanding of the interconnection of the earth and the cosmos with a profound reverence for animals, plants, soil, water and air. This reverence toward life is the basis for how the company conducts business and the basis for choosing the organizations they support including The Sierra Club, The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council, and the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association. Wild Creations also supports the Horry County Disabilities and Special Needs Board by providing employment opportunities to individuals with special needs.
What to expect when you get your frogs:
I wasn’t sure what to expect exactly. I was told to have Spring Water on hand so I did, however, I couldn’t understand how the frogs would be shipped and arrive safely. The frogs came in a bag of water (much like when you buy fish) along with the aquarium, two bags of colored rocks, a bigger colored jewel-like rock, and a LIVE plant all carefully nestled in a box.
After getting the frogs used to the new water temperature, we transferred all materials, spring water, and our new pets into their aquarium with ease. It really WAS that simple. Check it out:
Is it REALLY hassle free?
Okay, guys I wouldn’t lie to you because I, myself, don’t want to buy a pet expecting it to be easy and it being more a headache than it’s worth. These frogs are really easy to care for thanks to the EcoAquarium. Once you get it all set up, you feed the frogs twice a week with the tiny hole on top. Your starter kits comes with a LOT of food. Then you change out the water every 3 months. Easy peasy. After awhile you notice your frogs peak playing hours. Ours usually play at night so it’s fun to watch them swim and jump in their aquarium.
Momma Findings Family Thoughts:
When I was asked to review their adorable African Dwarf Frogs and their EcoAquarium starter kit, I was a little hesitant. Would we have time and energy to care for these frogs? Would I end up doing all the work? Once I read how easy it is, I thought it was worth giving a shot. We’ve had our frogs (Brittney and Shane) well over a month and I’m happy in my decision to dive into owning and caring for a family pet. Our frogs have now become part of our family and our children are gradually learning the responsibility it takes to care for a pet all thanks to Wild Creations.
You can purchase your own EcoAquarium starter kit that comes with: Classic Water Garden, 2 Frogs, Food and Care Pack, and choice of base which retails for $30.00 plus shipping and handling at www.wildcreations.com or speciality stores who have partnered with them.
