Both my son and daughter love reading. I still remember, like it was yesterday, how much fun they would have during story time at the library. It’s so fun to watch them develop as they learn, themselves, how to read actual words and sentences or when they want to read a chapter book. They are natural book worms.
Recently, we got the opportunity to read a new book written by Laketha Marie Johnson called Sunny’s Adventures. This is cute mystery book for children, packed with five short stories to get your detective thinking. It takes you through mysteries such as the case of the lost puppy, the disappearance of a diamond ring, a missing pie, and so much more. My favorite section of the book is at the end of each chapter there is a series of questions you can go through with your children to engage their critical thinking skills.
At first I though the illustrations were too simple, but realized they were perfect when both my 6 and 4 year old identified BETTER with the illustrations BECAUSE of the simplicity. In fact, you can download and print pictures just like the ones in the book by clicking here. While you’re at it go ahead and enter the coloring contest as well!
What are you waiting for?! Jump into a fun mystery adventure with your kids!
