The other day we were on a long drive from Texas to North Carolina. We just finished up a 3 week vacation to see family and I was dreading the long haul back home. You know how it is between rest stops? I wanted to drive at least another 30 minutes, but really had to go to the bathroom. Being the adult that I am, I thought, “I can SURELY make it to the next bathroom break.” Well, in an attempt to keep the kids happy we were just acting up, telling jokes, laughing up a storm and then I felt it… You know what I’m talking about?
I laughed and said, “Um.. I think Mommy needs to stop now… I might have peed my pants.” Of course, it was a joke and there was a bit of a leak, but not much. Tell me you’ve experienced it? C’MON!
Well, a lot of women don’t want to talk about it, but 1 in 4 women experience bladder issues. I know it’s embarrassing and sometimes taboo to bring it up, but WHY NOT? If it’s so common why don’t MORE women come together to discuss this issue? That’s why Kimberly Clark, the makers of Poise Absorbent Pads, has teamed up with the Women’s Health Foundation to open up a dialogue about this ever growing issue.
The Foundation has extended it’s first ever Passion Award and it was given to Linda Michael. She has overcome the issue of pelvic pain and bladder issues. The best thing about this incredible woman? She TALKS about it. Linda shares her story with the world and discusses how Doctor’s actually did nothing, for years, when she discussed these her bladder problems with them.
